NBC has renewed its affiliation agreements with two of the country's largest TV station operators: TEGNA and Nexstar. The deal will see dozens of local TV stations across the country continue to be affiliated with the NBC broadcast network. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
The agreement with TEGNA covers 20 markets covering 17 percent of the U.S., and includes stations in major markets like WXIA in Atlanta, Georgia; KPNX/KNAZ in Phoenix, Arizona; KING in Seattle, Washington; KARE in Minneapolis, Minnesota; KUSA in Denver, Colorado; and WKYC in Cleveland, Ohio.
The deal with Nexstar covers 33 markets and includes WFLA in Tampa, Florida, KSEE in Fresno, California, KARK in Little Rock, Arkansas, WHO in Des Moines, Iowa, WSAV in Savannah, Georgia, and KTSM in El Paso, Texas.
While the end of the year will sometimes bring tension between programming and carriers, or networks and affiliates, the end of 2020 brought with it little drama, without any major blackouts of programming. Instead, companies were able to strike deals to keep agreements intact and programming available.
