Donna Mathews has joined BAFTA in the newly created role of executive director of PR and communications.

The British Academy has announced a restructure of its senior management team, with four executives elevated and a new position created.

As part of the rejig, Emma Baehr is now executive director of awards and content; Tim Hunter is executive director of learning, inclusion policy and membership; Louise Robertson is executive director of partnerships and fundraising; and Tim Yates is executive director of finance and information. Completing the restructure, Donna Mathews — a veteran publicist and most recently head of PR, content and programs at Channel 4 — has joined BAFTA in the newly formed position of executive director of PR and communications.

All five will report to chief executive Amanda Berry and chief operating officer and managing director of BAFTA Enterprises, the Academy's commercial arm, Kevin Price, with BAFTA claiming that the new structure helped provide "clearer delineation" between the running of BAFTA the charity and BAFTA Enterprises.

"I am hugely proud that BAFTA brings great people together to do extraordinary work, celebrating excellence and ensuring the next generation of talent are discovered and supported," said Berry. "I am delighted to confirm Donna’s appointment which completes our new Executive team. We can now move forward to deliver our ambitious strategy and vision for the coming years to grow and develop our work, reaching more people than ever before. The new team will bring their breadth of experience, knowledge, and creativity together to realize BAFTA’s vision for the future."

BAFTA's U.K. leadership team also includes: Emma Perry, director of BAFTA Media Technology (BMT), Julian Shaw, director of BAFTA Piccadilly, and newly appointed Carys Taylor, director of albert, the TV and film sustainability body (which from January 2021 was officially brought under the BAFTA Group umbrella).
