Canelo Alvarez left his old promoter Oscar De La Hoya in no doubt about what he thought about himself as the pair engaged in a war of words on social media.
In 2020, boxing’s pound-for-pound king had an acrimonious split from De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions.
Canelo sued Oscar and Golden Boy, eventually securing his free agency and a clean break in an out-of-court settlement at the end of 2020.
Despite initially refraining from firing barbs at one another, their dispute is now once again re-emerging in the media.
Canelo dropped a bombshell interview before the Billy Joe Saunders fight in which he claimed De La Hoya had ‘no loyalty’ and is more ‘worried about drinking’.
De La Hoya reacted with a few words of his own, and has now added more criticism on social media.

Canelo and De La Hoya have gone back and forth on Instagram
In reply to a video of Canelo teaching a young boxer the fundamentals on Instagram, De La Hoya wrote: “Please, this guy does everything wrong.
“Head up when he throws hooks. On his heels, flat-footed. What else? Oh, he avoids Charlo.”
Canelo blasted back in response: “Oh really? You want me to talk? F***ing traitor.
“Do me a favour and go f*** yourself.”
De La Hoya, who last fought in 2008, announced he is returning to the ring when he will fight an unnamed opponent on a Triller fight card.
